About Us

Valley Homestead was origionally created and built by the McCracken and Reynolds-Smith families, Valley Homestead was designed specifically for groups as large 140 people and as small as 10 people.

As a testimony to the success of the venture, Valley Homestead has been operating now for 20 years and has welcomed over 100,000 guests, including 100,000 Melburnians which is over 3% of Melbournes' population. We never cease to be amazed by the extraordinary range of different groups we encounter. Having a licenced dinning room and lounge also helps us to appeal to a broader Adult market.

This region is a long time favourite holiday destination for Australians and is now increasingly being 'discovered' by international guests as well. The natural beauty of the area's mountains, rivers and valleys, together with a diversity of culture, agriculture and historical attractions, are all conveniently within an easy half day drive.

The north east encompasses the river valleys of the Ovens, King, Buffalo, Buckland, Kiewa and Mitta Mitta and the township of Bright, Harrietville, Beechworth, Myrtleford, Yackandandah, Rutherglen, Mt Beauty, Wangaratta and Albury Wodonga, and the alpine parks associated with Mt Buffalo, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek. To find us we're north east of MElbourne via the Hume Freeway and Great Alpine Road. If you drive continuously, it takes about 3 hours. We're on the on the edge of Victoria's magnificent high country, 18km from Bright, and 10km from Myrtleford.

We have warm summers, cool winters and 1000m of rain each year. That's high by Australian standards.

And at the centre of this wonderful region you will find Valley Homestead, a comfortable country resort. It is an excellent base for day trips into the north east or you may prefer to stay and relax, or be challenged on site.
