Rafting & Cycling
Rafting
This activity takes place at Marshalls Ridge, Lake Buffalo 25 minutes from Valley Homestead, or at Porepunkah on the Ovens River. Participants are organised into groups and after instruction, have to build a raft from the materials provided.
Once the completed rafts are inspected for seaworthiness, they are raced over a defined course in chest deep water. We 'patrol' the race in a small aluminium boat with an outboard motor. Bouyancy vests, provided by Valley Homestead, are worn by all those in the water. This is a half day activity which can be extended to include a lunch break as well.
Valley Homestead staff introduce and supervise the activity, with assistance of group leaders.
Cycling
Just metres from our front gate is the bitumenised Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. Bright is 18 kilometres, Myrtleford is 10 kilometres the riding possibilities are limitless. A bicycle, helmet and commercially bottled water are provided. It is recommended groups bring a mobile phone for complete convenience. Whilst groups supervise and manage themselves, Valley Homestead does provide support or back up if needed and will also provide instructors should this be required.
